Free Campers Alone Together! Co-creation & Coordination

B Bee Public Seen by 200

馃敟Welcome, Welcome free campers,

Here we facilitate some right @tags as guidance after we have seen a question on Facebook regarding getting together some free campers to start a kitchen.

This space is for you to discuss, assemble, unite or start fun rivalries. However, you choose. I am an ex-free camper so will try to answer some questions for you too if I can.

馃搶How you may Build a basic and approved kitchen?

  • Fridges (rental, second hand)

  • Pavillon/party tent (dry kitchen area)

  • Fire Extinguisher

  • Tables and benches ( there are some rentals around Freiland, try contacting @Natacha Kromatik if you need to rent tables and benches! larger group order could give a better price!

  • gas bottle

  • Kitchen Burner.

  • something else?

  • list

  • here

馃搶How many people do you need?

  • Invite candidates to this thread to open discussions and find a driver, a "builder" participant willing to bring kitchen materials ( pans and pots for instance) etc.

  • You could create a kitchen for 5/20/30/40 ( more than that is a bit chaotic perhaps)

馃搶Logistics?

  • Request advice on the comments of this thread to find out Where to get good rental prices. Moderators will take you where you need to go or tag the people you need to talk to.

  • Share transport of materials by coordinating with other Kieze on this Kieze Sharing transport thread

  • If you cant find a solution to transport your kitchen set up for the brand new kieze contact @Martin K Maybe he can help you maybe he cannot!

馃搶How does the kitchen get power and water?

Tag @Sven Dudink, our power and water Realizer. Oh yes, you need to pay for that power by the way, but costs can be split among all members of the free campers Zweck-Kiez

馃搶Placement of the Kitchen:

There are a lot of very cool places we could assign to your kitchen, that, plus all you put around it (tents), will form a camp!!! @Cairn (Cl茅ment) is your go-to guy here.

馃搶Isn't that almost as much effort as creating a proper camp?

Good thinking! After going through this hassle, why not make this fun and create a camp?
On top of the deeper experience, this also enables you to get a sweet spot on site, that some would consider nicer than being in the field next to the parking.

You can find more information on how to create a camp and people to reach out to with questions in the Kieze registration and facilitation thread here.

Do we want an announcement about this to encourage freecampers?

For that purpose and to make the announcement more effective could I @Bee change a bit the initial wording of the thread to better link people here and make users feel they are in the right place after clicking.?

Id like to add the kieze sharing transport thread here as well

Maybe adding the lieze FAQ will help (such a wonderfull creation from Erin 鉂わ笍)

The kieze registration ends 6th of August.

If I don't misunderstand the idea behind this is to better I vite them to register but approaching differently, No?

Or maybe iam completely off...

I'm not often online on fb, otherwise I would get involved in discussions concerning my area. If anyone ends up in those, maybe just link the talk channel for fire safety rules, that might also help in getting people more involved in talk 馃槉

To be clear, I鈥檓 not unilaterally setting any rules with my FB replies. I am trying to clarify for people 1. why there was messaging about possibly not having fires in the free camp area, while it is presumably being allowed in camps, and 2. realistically what I see are the real logistical safety challenges of doing it, so that people understand their responsibility in that and the responsibility it adds to the org.

CJ seems to express an opposing opinion. It might be good to align clearly on what the expectations are towards free campers, because you risk lots of discussions on site if there is any kind of vagueness.

CJ on Facebook seems to imply that kitchens need to be placed, so they can only be part of a camp: Part of the reason there鈥檚 been messaging about there being no open fires in the free camping area is because there is a safety check for each camp where someone will go and verify that their kitchen setup is sufficient and safe. If free campers also make their own kitchens, then this critical step will not get done, because they鈥檙e not on a map or in any kind of registry. Additionally, we have to put 1000L tanks of water within reach (with a standard fire hose) of any kitchen, so logistically, the org needs to know exactly where your kitchen will be. If you鈥檙e going to organize a kitchen in the free campers area, I urge you to please let people know about it, maybe create a free campers registry or something, reach out to the fire lead Pur Zel, etc.
