Introducing to the Community

As the group is defined it would be nice to introduce yourself to the community as members of the Korg.

I invite you to pass by this Newsletter drive folder where you will find a draft of the newsletter (drafted by me so don't expect much) and where to place each one an Image/picture/drawing that represents you, please do name the file with your name on it) DONE

Who is doing What?

Here are the notes from the Onboarding + Who is doing what

Since it was not so clear to me I migrated that info onto a Responsibilities sheet

Korg Meeting notes

The Korg holds meetings regularly to see how things go and discuss important matters.

These are uploaded in the Korg Meeting and Updates Thread

Realizers tracking and recruitment

The Korg has put up a list of all the Needs of the event to happen and assign a member to follow up on it. These needs are listed on a Thread that is pinned to the top of all threads of the group to allow everyone to find it easily and eventually get involved and signup for unfilled positions. See Realizers, we need you!

Realizer Meetings

The Korg will be hosting Realizer meetings with the goal of bringing people together, realizers, and also those interested in participating in any way.

Meeting announcements are usually done through Newsletters, Telegram channel, Facebook, and Talk Itself:

Timeline

In This Working Thread - Mapping the critical Needs, we collaboratively work on the timeline for Kiez Burn 2021. It is a work in progress. Feel free to chip in your concerns in regards to what and when things should be done.

It actually concerns me the korg has taken on too much and is rather a group of realizers. Im afraid... whether there will be time to actually pull the strings together which is the essence of the Korg, recruit, recruit host meetings, share info, recruit, check ups, recruit.

Last year the Korg had less and smaller roles, or non realizer roles at all, which gave us the time to work on recruitment, meetings, this and that to ensure the thing moves forward. Now if the Korg is too busy... just a reflection.

May be we should consider what Natacha suggested about expanding the Korg (?)

While we let, for example Hans,do the realizer roles he has taken. He is close enough to us so we can follow up and help recruit a co-lead. Of course he is still part of the team...

It is important to have a couple of korgis willing and with time to follow up on recruitment, organize realizers meetings, organize korg meetings and work on a timeline (?) Those things need a couple of hands and more meetings because a timeline is a session by itself.

To me personally an hour and half online session is already long. So its worth to think on weekly korg meetings to talk about things separetly instead of super long sessions. My opinion. while I also wanna say that i will not be able to attend and organize all the meetings.

The board will help to start off and be present but we are also to plan our own meetings plus what about the processes like advice/conflict escalation? I don't believe the korg will have hands for it...

Concerns concerns...

Yep, I agree we may have not being very concise in the last meeting. There are several misunderstandings wondering around. And very important to avoid burning out. Last year there was dilemma about when to step in and if ("let fail what the community does not carry" ..)

Coming back to the Korg description:

  • Connecting people and realizers --- maybe what was named "recruitment"?

  • Make sure that event critical tasks are done

  • Keeping an eye out for blind spots and preparing for conceivable complications - the flagging

  • The can be Realizers if they so choose

A more specific phrasing could be written, if the Korg so decide.

There are no more onboardings, I believe, but I thought the (leads) meetings would be organized by the KB event coordination team?

My understanding of the role of Korg is much less active... rather than heavy recruitment efforts, external meetings, onboarding, etc. I see our role as identifying critical elements of the event planning, monitoring the status of them, and flagging serious gaps to the "community"... meaning the board and the verein (who have some legal liability with the event), and also anyone who generally is interested in seeing KB happen (and might be interested in chipping in to make it happen).

That's not to discourage anyone from also doing recruitment, or also being a realizer, but I think there is value in detaching any active responsibilities from the Korg. The "core" team easily burned themselves out by trying to recruit people for certain active roles, then monitoring those roles, and then stepping in and doing those roles when they weren't getting done sufficiently (or recruiting other people to step in and help). When the Korg was created last year, we agreed (at least from my perspective) that we should not make the same mistake... we would monitor the critical roles and make it known when there were significant gaps to the people that need to know: the board because they have legal liability, and the "community" because that is hopefully where the interest and volunteer effort would come from to fill the gap.

I think it's an important distinction to make... that we will let people know when there's a problem, but we're not going to fix it. If we do that, we can have <1hour meetings maybe every 2 weeks, just to check in and get a status update. Then we all have time to do other stuff.

All that being said, I feel like our first meeting was more of a realizers meeting, and there was a lot of confusion about what it meant when we put someone's name down next to something. It seemed like there was a lot more interest/discussion about what people wanted to "do", and in my mind that's exactly the opposite of what the Korgis should be talking about.
