Wandering Rangers
Wandering Rangers are participants at Kiez Burn who volunteer a portion of their time in service of the safety and well-being of the community. They act as non-confrontational community mediators, providers of reliable information, facilitators of public safety, and navigators of the edge of chaos. They encourage self reliance, individual accountability, and shared responsibility. They mediate situations involving citizens, the organization, or cooperating agencies. When circumstances dictate, they act to uphold the principles of our community.

Day or night, pairs of Rangers can be found engaging with the community, enjoying the art, and always ready to help sort things out.

@hannamaijahelvi

Hanna Maija I tagged you because I would like to receive some intel on volunteer reliability.
More specific: Do you have a rough estimate how many people flaked on their shifts? Especially the ranegr shifts? Can you tag someone who might have a clue about that here if that's not you? Thank you

@cristinaolano the saloon has, as far as I see it, not reached a final decision yet. Currently no one is in the task of bein the main responsible person for the saloon as the rangers hub. However, I think the saloon will come to a decision soon. Currently we are gathering intel about risk and responsibilities. Once I have the intel I will try and bring people interested in organizing the rangers as saloon to be active here in talk and just join the discussion you started. Does that sound alright?

@jck - did I represent correctly? please lmk if I missed something important.

OH and does anybody know what the minimum funding for rangers will be or where to access that info?

Hi, to my knowledge not so many flaked. The people that were responsible of that last year might have a different impression though!

We did not track it, but if I remember right we had about 120 wonderer shifts last year and my rough estimate would be that maximum 10 didn't show up.

we talked about this at the downtempo meeting. we wanted to host the rangers and make it a communal thing. if cris is organizing wanderers already then i can be the downtempo lead on the site and cowboy wrangler . im going to talk to cris about that on the phone unless @cristinaolano wants to talk here.

We're so excited to announce Wandering Rangers this year is open for volunteers!

Wandering Rangers are Kiez Burners who take a turn walking the grounds and being helpful and of service to the safety and well-being of the community. They act as non-confrontational community mediators, providers of reliable information, facilitators of public safety, and navigators of the edge of chaos. They encourage self reliance, individual accountability, and shared responsibility.
At any time day or night you will find two pairs of Rangers checking on dancefloors and art projects, getting the pulse of the event for HQ and offering help or alerting security and medical when needed. Wanders are for 4 hours and always with a partner, and sober. There will be a short introduction and prep meeting at the start of kiez burn to guide you. You can sign up for just one Wander, or a few, its up to you. We will be filling 72 available slots with burners from all sorts of backgrounds, Join the team!
