Otto Public Seen by 148

Otto will no longer lead the Tool Haus. This role is open as of today. Please contact @Otto if you want to lead :)

What we are

Tool Haus is a central location where kieze can borrow a tool for a limited time. These tools are provided by KBORG.
The process is simple: Tool Bitch gives you your desired tool, and write down name and location. You, personally, bring back the tool, immediately after use or 2 hours (MAX). You do not hand it to anyone else but the Tool Bitch. Failure to comply means your kiez gets no tools for 8 hours :)
Service will roughly be 10 - 18 or until I'm tired, cause so far it's just 1 Tool Bitch

What we are not

A place to request tools that we dont have.
A place to borrow 5 items and disappear for 5 hours.
Your friendly kiezlich tool shed.

What we have

currently hunting the specifics, since I can't find the record
Hammers / Sledge hammers
3 Japanese hand saws
Screws. no sizes specified. A whole bucketfull. A lot.
2 Wheel barrels. Jacinta and Ethel, please call them by their names
2 Trench diggers
2 (3?) Power drills + assorted bits
1 Spade
Manual post digger
Other bits and pieces
Full list here

Changes from 2018

There is a massively important change from last year: NO POWER TOOLS AVAILABLE!!!!!! NONE!
The auger and the weed whacker were rented and are not returning this year.

If anyone else here wants to organize and pool together resources to get one, Tool Haus will gladly ensure it's safety: applying the tool bitching principles to it, storing it under lock and key, etc

If someone wants to continue the tradition of Tool Bitching, I'd be honored to have a fellow Bitch during build. We are incorruptible, moral, and bitchy. We also dominate the airwaves during build with our concise comments on how to properly address people and hunting down tool escapees

Otto April 25th, 2019 18:27

Also, if anyone knows where the written record of what was stored is .....I'd love to know too :0)

I have a question, my grandma is selling her house and asked me if I needed anything as most things will otherwise just be left for the new owner. I didnt, but walking through the basement, seeing a lot of basic tools, I started wondering: Would burners want any (including pick-up), where could the potential home of the new toolies be and how could potential use throughout the year be enabled. Feel free to share your thoughts. Schmiddyhugs!

Schmiddy April 27th, 2019 08:36

Tool Bitching sounds great and fun, does it include giving advice on which tool might be best for the given job though? This I wouldn't feel magic enough for. :D

I'm personally a deep devotee of the great tradition of the Honorable Tool Bitches :raised_hands:

waldo April 28th, 2019 20:26

that might be an amazing way to keep the tools alive and super useful! If there is a way to transport them to the site, then that might be an amazing addition!!

waldo April 28th, 2019 20:30

I think @remyschneider has some sort of inventory -

would be good to update it. We had a bit of a list going last years, might be good to make this a top priority for this year - if we want to keep the toolhaus running

will the tool haus also again have all the extra electrical bits that I'll need to keep camps running?

waldo May 6th, 2019 21:12

can we have a power auger again?

Otto May 7th, 2019 14:12

Hey rel, sorry for the delay. Im not sure I understand the question... Ideally Tool Haus will be were it was last year and therefore need a power (for radio stations, for example)

Otto May 7th, 2019 14:13

We can. I'll gladly guard it and ensure its safety! But only if someone else does the renting it, budgeting it, giving it back, etc...

Otto May 7th, 2019 14:15

This is amazing thank you!!!!!!! I will ensure it's updated

@ottojuanbrunoriver and @relativityrltvty I believe Rel means the extra cables and distributors that we used to have. In answer: only if those were brought back to toolhaus last year.

Hiya! Anyone bringing a skilsaw and willing to share? We can of course contribute to renting or buying blades

anyone bringing a lawnmower / grass mower (preferably gas powered)? musotopia and camp schlampagne are wondering - with the risk of ticks, we dont want to take any chances, and we got the OK to mow our camp sites.
