Survival Guide 2021

VRS Veroca R. Sala Public Seen by 64

HI, here are survival Guides both in ENGLISH and GERMAN. The german version is attached as pdf scroll down to find it.

English >>> Survival Guide 2021 (google doc)

German >>> Survival Guide 2021 (is attached as a PDF) down below

Realizer @Caroline ❤️ English Version.

German Version:

Input & help from:

  • Covid-19 protocols: @Hanna-Maija (Animal), when you have the hygiene concept done, we can extract from there all relevant info

  • Sound protocols: @Quentin feugere

  • German Speaker: Someone willing to make some phone calls and check time availability and timetable from doctors near the site and transport, so that to make sure we provide the right info on the survival guide.

  • Anyone else's input is valuable, Korg, rangers, site leads....

We also need to do the German Version, No need to translate it all, as we have it from 2019 already, but we will need a german speaker to eventually add in the new info. If you are up for it, hit the comments🙌

C

Caroline Tue 27 Jul 2021 6:21PM

Up on the german speaking volunteer? Does anyone have time to call the taxi service?

P

Purzel Mon 19 Jul 2021 4:22PM

I Was already wondering where I wrote this ❤️😅

VRS

Veroca R. Sala Tue 20 Jul 2021 4:25PM

Hey hey. Thanks!!!

There are some ppl tagged on the comments. I suggest making the changes and once you consider is ready you could announce it and ppl would jump in to review it (or not) hehe.

There is a thread called "realizers we need you" there you could find all realizers of all areas tagged. Feel free to reach out to them.

There is a newsletter thread with the next three scheduled releases (every Friday btw) In case you want to spread the ultimate version before the event to all ticket holders

About the German version of it, we hope someone steps up otherwise there will not be a German version this year (?)

Thanks so much for stepping up 🚀

P

Purzel Thu 22 Jul 2021 8:23AM

I have plenty to add but can't figure out how to do that in the document 🤔

@Dorothea would you be open to have a 20min phone call to go through my changes?

AK

Alex Kaos Thu 22 Jul 2021 8:55AM

You can comment for the time being I think.

P

Purzel Thu 22 Jul 2021 11:27AM

Those are 2 of the things I want to change.

You can find the new rules here

My Plan is to fire my old crappy Laptop up today and send you the whole document with my change highlighted via Email.

P

Purzel Thu 22 Jul 2021 11:36AM

The pharmacy is still there

The number for the dentist is invalid, I don't think it exists anymore.

The hospital is also still there

C

Caroline Fri 23 Jul 2021 2:12PM

@Purzel You did well with the adjustable document !! I accepted your changes :) Thanks a lot for all the infos

MT

Myriam TheWanderer Fri 23 Jul 2021 4:49PM

@Caroline

I would change it the following:

Campervan Permits

If you wish to bring a Campervan to site you must apply for a permit beforehand. We do not guarantee that vans will be allowed onsite. There will be an area on the parking lot allocated for campervans as well, for that area no permits required.

If you recieved a permit you need to enter the site before Wednesday the 11th of August at noon, and leave after Sunday 10 pm.

Cars to sleep in will not be allowed to park onsite - we do not have enough space on the grounds to accommodate them. Plan to bring a tent.

Bee Wed 28 Jul 2021 6:26PM

Thank you so much Caroline! You are a whirlwind of productive creativity and I LOVE IT. :) Let me know if you have any outstanding questions :)

C

Caroline Wed 28 Jul 2021 8:37PM

You've did it already :)
----------

2021 is the first year that we will hire a professional first aid company. They are from Berlin, professional paramedics and will help us in need from Wednesday till Sunday around the clock.

If you or someone next to you is experiencing a medical emergency Do not call 112.

This would create a lot of hassle for the whole organisation team. You can find First Aid close to the gate (together with welfare) or contact them remotely by approaching anyone with a radio (rangers, site lead etc) or walk into any kiez. We will hand out a phone number to call them directly towards the Kieze.

P

Purzel Wed 28 Jul 2021 8:41PM

Thank you and sorry for the extra hassle 🙈❤

C

Caroline Wed 28 Jul 2021 8:47PM

Hey @Bee, nice to meet you

Yes i have a few non-answered questions! (in the order of importance)

  • Can someone who speaks german please make a call to the denim's taxi company to see if they operate this year and how? Survival guide says

"They will be at the Demmin train station when the trains arrive from Berlin or from the other direction (Greifswald) on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons. Saturday on demand. On Sunday they will come to the site at 4pm and then on demand and will shuttle back to the Demmin train station.

On Wednesday they will be shuttling all the time back and forth - so there might be a short wait, yet this gives opportunities to meet other burners or see a tiny bit of Meck Pomm. :)

    ● Operating hours of the taxi are: Wednesday all day (10 am - 10 pm)

    ● To arrange transport outside of operating hours: Taxi Albrecht: 0172 9429569

ATTENTION: If one of your taxi-comrade test positive to covid at the gate, you may all be asked to leave Kiez Burn

  • what does people do when they see a problem with a toilet (lack of paper, full, etc). Survival guide says to go to the arbeitsam but there is none this year?

  • Is the covid team okay with what I wrote?

  • General disclaimer to review

Thanks a lot for any answer you might bring

B

Bee Thu 29 Jul 2021 2:41PM

  • Unfortunately I am not speaking enough German for this but I'll add this to the thread for doing shout outs on social media?

  • @Dan de Lion! is doing the organising of the Kieze - one representative from each camp will be onboarded at the end of Build/start of event (unsure of when exactly). I believe they will get their info on site about these toilet upkeep tasks!

  • @Hanna-Maija (Animal) @Julian Finn are both probably super busy right now but tagging them to check the Covid updates (or perhaps someone else on the covid team can also take a look over if y'all cuties don't have the time right now).

  • General Disclaimer looks good to me. :)

C

Caroline Thu 29 Jul 2021 2:48PM

I'll found some german speakers on facebook, everything allright :). (only problem is the taxi company that will have to call back tomorow... Hope It will be in time for the newsletter)

Thanks for all the infos, I've tagged Dan de Lion a faw days ago be they have not answered yet...
Someone suggested me an amelioration for covid stuff, i'll add it. The rest seems okay
Thanks for reading the general disclaimer

Thank you again for translating this!

Can you add a little message about the document + a link to share it in the Newsletter doc available here

Maybe in german because it's for non english speakers

Thanks you 2! :)

@Bee - we dont have this area as of yet - at the moment we guess that Freecampers will be restricted at a specific camping area in the parking area - every Kiez can request a number of campers to be on site - they have to be integrated at camp. When we have the requests in we decide the number

VRS

Veroca R. Sala Mon 19 Jul 2021 2:38PM

Hi @Dorothea so good to have you on board 🎉

Shall we have a small phone call somewhere this week? I can give you more details. Do you use telegram? I am@VerocaRS on telegram.

You could write me there or also via email to volunteer@kiezburn.org ❤️

C

Caroline Tue 20 Jul 2021 4:18PM

I've added a section at the begining about important news for this year (bring a negative covidd test at the gate ; no gas ; no bus). Because some people might miss it if read to quickly

Does the survival guide fall into the communicorns team? (my question is : should I ask @Bee to introduce me to the work to do?)

F

Friso Wed 21 Jul 2021 4:19PM

This looks good to me, I ckecked the websites of those recycling facilitied and theyre still in buisness.

Caroline Thu 22 Jul 2021 11:12AM

@Hans what are the new fire & stoves restriction. I added a "no camping gas " at the very begining of the survival guide (section "important naws for 2021" But we should also update the "cooking kit" section

P

Does it work like this? Sorry for making it complicated, I struggle to understand those adjustable documents 🙄

C

Caroline Sun 25 Jul 2021 7:38AM

Maybe @Annette @Kate @Jan-Christian Kaspareit ?

Sorry to hurry you but i want the guide out asap

C

Caroline Sun 25 Jul 2021 7:41AM

@Friso @Annette @Kate @Jan-Christian Kaspareit

Any idea about grey water that would be produce by home-made shower in the kiez?

C

Caroline Tue 27 Jul 2021 6:04PM

Thanks ! I've accepetd most of them (sound I'll do it tomorow). Love your werk, don't spend too much time on that you already have enough to do.
It's not important if parking info are not totally accurate anymore

C

Cris Tue 27 Jul 2021 7:36PM

Last update about early arrival, correcting my last comment about it. Deadline is July 31st. until then it's open for ppl to apply. Sorry, last time I put my hands on that document, promised!

C

Caroline Thu 29 Jul 2021 11:03AM

Yes it can be added but i would li'e the survival guide to be finished by tonight to be sent to the next newsletter... Can they make a small sum-up of what they think to put in the sound protocol? There is a link to the sound thread on the survival guide, i can add the date of when it will be finished so people know when to check

@Caroline it's not sure yet if the sound team can finalise the document until 2 August – maybe you can include this, it gives some more context:

You want to bring music? Due to some bad experiences in 2019, we have some new rules this year so that we can enjoy a smooth Burn together. There will be less overall loud times and only 4 registered "noisy" camps - always in a hollow or surrounded by trees so we can keep a good relationship with the neighbors. In all other areas:

DO's | Ambience music while having your brunch or in a chill space, quiet music that supports a workshop or performance, microphone on a small amp, small bluetooth speakers (JBL charge 4 or similar), acoustic instruments, small drums/percussions.

DONT's | Any sort of dancefloorish atmosphere. If you are having a party, it’s probably already too loud. Large drum set. Please don't bring a PA if you don't have a permit.

Where will the rangers draw the line? Firstly with common sense, respect towards community and mutual understanding of what is reasonably quiet. Unfortunately, this location doesn't allow a full self expression for all. Let's enjoy being together and remember that we do all this because we had issues in the past and don't want the event to be shut down because of noise complaints.

C

Caroline Thu 29 Jul 2021 6:30PM

you've did it already right? Do we share the link so we can change stuff afterward or do we send a pdf?

C

Caroline Thu 29 Jul 2021 6:45PM

Thanks! I've added a section with all of that in general advices and I've let the sound planning in the sleeping paragraph

C

Caroline Sun 1 Aug 2021 8:36PM

Hi Dorothea!

I hope you're feeling okay now. If you're still ill or busy with other stuff, you don't have to get involved etc. Thanks for showing up, even if it's late.

I did the english version of the guide so I've put all the infos together. But nobody worked on the german version.

If you still want to do the german version I see two ways to do the things: either you start with the 2019 german version and compare it to the 2021 english version, this way you can spot the differences and include them.

Or you can ask the person on facebook who offered to pass the english version into a professional automatic translator and just review the result

Hi everyone,

Here's the German version of the survival guide. Generously DeepL-ed by a fellow Burner and proofread by me, native German speaker with no qualification other than a proofreading kink. Hope it helps!

Also identified a few minor inconsistencies but already flagged those to the respective Leads or commented in the English version which I think has already been incorporated. :-)

Re general disclaimer on the last page: it's definitely an analogous translation, but if it needs to have a very specific legal terminology, I cannot guarantee that.

@Caroline i just read in the survival guide that people can only bring their electric stove when they bring their own generator, this info is not correct anymore, we actually wish to motivate people to bring electric heat plates since they are more save, and the generators are more than powerful enough to provide power to it, the only thing they have to keep in mind is, they will have to buy enough power to support their heat plate

D

Dorothea Sun 1 Aug 2021 8:17PM

Dear @Caroline 🔥 Yesterday @Quentin & @CJ Yetman have updated the sound protocol and added some missing input from the rangers perspective... it will be reviewed and finalised next week (most of the team will be afk this weekend) and then announced on Talk afterwards. Can you still add it to the survival guide? It's really important because we want to avoid a situation like in 2019 🔊

P

Purzel Wed 28 Jul 2021 6:18AM

Sorry for the late input.

Is this information included? https://talk.kiezburn.org/d/OsX6JijM/proposal-decided-handing-out-a-phonenumber-to-contact-first-aid-directly-

Basically, if participants recognize a medical issue with themselves or others and no Ranger is close. They should be able to go into whatever Kiez and get the phone number for our own first aid service there.

I'm not sure if I included that already, my head is pretty full with stuff 😉

C

I made many comments on the Guide. I hope you find them ok. Thank you, @Caroline !

@Holger Wessels can you double check the "legal things" (sectione the law and general disclaimer) at the end of the survival guide?

@Myriam TheWanderer @Alejandro I'm not sure you're the right person to ask but what are the camper van potocol on site?
Survival guide says it needs to be change

current version is :

Hello everyone

@Veroca R. Sala told me that i could help here with the survival guide. I can do that for the english one (i speak basic german so not enough to do it in german as well.)

I'm a bit lost, I've seen the comment about fire safety. I will update that. What about other content?
Should I write it myself as guide like the corona regulation get out?
Should I ask all the realizer to update me their regulation?

P

Purzel Mon 19 Jul 2021 3:14PM

The cooking,  first aid and fire regulations part needs an Update 😊

Im happy to help but don't know where.

add a note somewhere inthe Survival Guide: to please please use eco-friendly skin products

@Friso can we have an LNT statement about Leave No trace? ; With recommendations for camps ( we have new Kieze, first-timers ) we could provide some education material or guidelines to ensure we actually do leave no trace.

  • We want to use the fire safety water cubes as swimming pools but the water has to be poured on the land afterward. Would be nice to address this and make sure people dont forget to mind about their skin products. .

  • Maybe just an LNT thread will help for now (?)

    Thanks!🍀
