Before you start

If you have a question, a concern or a comment about Placement, you should write it on Talk, as a comment in the site planning group :)
Also, announcements related to Placement will be made to members of the Dreams group on Talk, so please take a moment to join that group.
Private messages sent to the Placement Admin will not be addressed. Disregarding this policy may result in pain, tears and frustration. Be nice to yourself!

Never been to the site?

If you haven't been at the Freiland site before, you can get a feel for different locations by checking out snowy pictures and/or this areal video. You can also always take a car and go visit the site. It is always open for the public to walk their dogs or plan big dreams ;) Here is the location: https://goo.gl/maps/sEfEpexgg6t
We will also be going to the site with all the leads and camp leads. Communication around this will follow as soon as we have a date for this.

Adding your project to the placement map

You add your project to the placement map by drawing the area(s) that you need for your project. Before going ahead, take the time to see how the map is organised in different layers.
Your project is to be added on the layer labeled "Kieze" if you place a Kiez, and the layer "Art installations" if you want to build a wooden snail. You need to have it selected before adding a zone.

Quiet zones

Be quiet... Only babies can cry... Open your heart to the frogs and beatles...
Calm zones are ideal for:
- Kinder Kiez
- Yoga kiez
- A temple
- Kieze offering a calm/chillout/spiritual experience
- Predominantly camping areas
- …

Semi-loud zones

1) Complete Quiet Times all around the Playa 6-11 AM (small bluetooth speaker while eating breakfast doesn't count, the idea is to allow people all around the Burn to sleep and get a break from loud music).
2) No restriction on Saturday night - Burn night.
3) Kieze in Semi-loud zones (map is available to view) should be considerate with how loud they are in terms of volume, hours and which days. Would be great to have soundcamps from this zone not busting loud music every day until 6AM. In case of ongoing complaints, Wonderers (Rangers) will step in and ask to lower the volume. In addition, if we have a Sounds Engineers taking ownership of this matter, he can decide a bar and soundcamps would need to not cross that bar (decibels) from let's say 2AM-6AM. Point number 3 can be discussed further, if you have something to add you can agree and still comment about it

Loud zones

1) Complete Quiet Times all around the Playa 6-11 AM (small bluetooth speaker while eating breakfast doesn't count, the idea is to allow people all around the Burn to sleep and get a break from loud music).
2) No restriction on Saturday night - Burn night. # Fire safety regulations Every camp needs to have a fire extinguisher!!

Placement tip

As an orientation for sleeping tents: a guesstimated rule of thumb is 7m2/person. So if you're camp include e.g. 50 members, reserve ca. 350m2 for the individual tent area.

Placement Etiquette

Please follow the following etiquette when placing your project:
0. Turn on the layer "Transport - perimeter" from the left side of the map. The black lines will show you the borders of the area we are allowed to use. All camps must fit inside these perimeters.
1. Do not move or adjust in any way surfaces that have already been drawn, unless you have the approval of the Kiez/art project.
2. Placement claims do not work on a "first come first served" basis. If another project is interested in a surface that you have already drawn, their claim is as valid as yours, so please take that into consideration when discussing with the other team.
3. Please don't draw an area bigger than needed by your art installation or theme camp.
4. The areas marked as “loud” are primarily meant for sound camps, please don’t put your silent retreat/yoga/meditation camp in these areas.
5. Project leads should do their maximum to resolve placement conflicts privately. Possibly, the conflict escalation steps could help solve the problem. In the rare case when two team leads simply cannot agree on a solution after talking to one-another about the issue, the procedure is to raise the conflict publicly, in the site planning group on talk. The community members following this group will suggest solutions. We believe that discussing such conflicts in a public channel is a good way to bring a diversity of opinions, leading to a solution as fair as possible for both parties.

What to include on the map

Please indicate the following information for the zone(s) that you add to the map for your theme camp or art installation:
- Name of the project (into the “name”)
- Everything else into “description”, including CONTACT DETAILS (Oblicatory!!! Facebook account, email address, phone number ... All the additions to the map without contact info will be removed.)
- If placing a camp, please put in the name of the the LNT lead of the camp. Specifying contact information is very important for placement to work well. If the contact details are not indicated in the “description” field of your zone, your zone will be removed.

Do you need assistance to place your project?

If you haven’t been to Freiland location, then it will still be difficult to find a good location just by looking at the map. Don’t hesitate to ask for guidance by writing a message in here [in this Talk thread](https://talk.kiezburn.org/g/rujGUzSH/site-planning-water-power-signs?

Hey guys, i´m from Salon Leobard. We just placed our Camp and are wondering if someone could confirm for us that it is allowed to camp there. Also is this specific place is rather flat? We need it to be for our art piece (the Hammock Reactor). Please, let us know as soon as possible. Lots of love from Vienna.

Heya and welcome Salon Leobard!! I think the area you chose is actually on a hill’s side and not flat. I would recommend the area right next to it, starting from where the top right corner or your area is now and where you can see a red spot. There’s a little path leading to this area and it’s nice and flat. It’s also quite large - we had 2 camp in it last year. How many people will you be?

Thank you for your warm welcoming input. I´ll tell our group (about 25 people) about your comment and maybe we´ll place our Camp at the spot next to us then.

might it be possible that its impossible to add another layer to the map for adding your kiez (thats at least what it tells to me as maximum number of layers would be reached)? or - second possibility - am i just too stupid?

Hi KB! I'm Fish, the Kiez lead for Camp Schlampagne - we're a new camp of experienced Burners bringing lots of Schlampagne and a trashy wardrobe for everyone to discover their inner Schlampe around sunset. Thus, we'd like to be somewhere not too far off the beaten path, where people can stop by on their way to the party. Two areas we were considering: east of Underworld in the field where the Fire Truck was last year (remember the kids' show?), and north of Underworld on the hill facing the sunset (in the orange area on the map.) But, given that we are bringing a Sektwagen (a cart on bicycle wheels) and we want to serve schlampagne from it, maybe it's best we'd be placed at the east location so that we dont have to struggle with it on a hill. I'll mark that on the map, and this post will be a record of our reasoning! Happy to talk more.

So, I saw that the place we're thinking of is already marked by Bandana Republic. Happy to chat with them / orgs about finding a solution:)
