Tips 'n Tools for Building a Kiez

CD Carolin Dandara Public Seen by 68

I'm at KiezBurn for the first time and we're building a new Kiez with some friends. So any tips, tools and learnings on building structures, getting internally organized as a Kiez etc are highly appreciated!

I was at Nowhere and Borderland the past year and we've been using the online tool Autopo (https://app.autopo.co) a friend of mine built to get organized as a camp. I can highly recommend it! It's free to use and allows your group to vote people in, co-create a timetable, it has a co-budgeting tool where you can list all expenses and lots of other cool functions etc.

Hi @carolindandara , welcome and great that you reached out!
More info would be helpful - how many people +- are you aiming for?
What is the theme of the camp - what would you wish to share/offer/gift to the community?
What are your basic wishes/needs as a camp? e.g sharing food, having a chill area, having a bar, having shade...
Do you want to decide on a camp fee and then adjust your needs to it, or estimate your needs and costs, and decide on a camp fee (and amount of people) according to that?

From my experience, these are the first questions to ask. Once you have a rough estimation where are you heading to, you might wanna try creating "teams" within you camp: kitchen/food team, structures/build team, transport team, deco team. Having someone to overview finance is also crucial, and here you will probably need to decide on decision-making: for example, whether you prefer having 1/2/3 people as camp-leads, who make the big decisions, or try to take almost all decisions together.

Feel free to ask any question here or on private.
Good luck!

@carolindandara I would also suggest getting together with the people in your crew and work out what kind of camp you would like to have. Then start to split out tasks and work with those. You could also use Talk (the service were on now) to create a group and add your friends to help organise it! There is also some info on the Kiezburn website (hopefully its up to date?) on how to register, run and set up a camp! https://kiezburn.org/camps/
