Additional Tools

S Sebastian Public Seen by 17

Dear robots,
as I've mentioned at the kick off, I'm going to host manage services to run small startups. As collaboration I'm planning to offer Cryptpad. This includes Documents, presentations, spredsheets, kanban etc. in an end-to-end encrypted manner. We could also use their installation at cryptpad.fr to start of. Could you check if the platform satisfys our needs for collaboration tools?
Greeting
Sebastian
P.S. Happy to be on board :)

I can say that there is a lot of time and technical bias invested in toolsets here. The current suite of choice is google (loved by some, hated by others), we also have email hosted on zoho, which offers comprehensive set of SaaS tools.

What is going to be gained from a switch , and what is our migration path too and from toolsets?

Perhaps it would be good to understand what we want to achieve in this tool consolidation process; what are our hard limits for security and data protection, if we are willing to pay for services and how much, and what level of reliability and support can we expect should we consider a tool i.e. is it new to the ecosystem, what are the rates of enhancement/community engagement, managed or self hosted(and risks/costs/mitigations associated) etc etc

Document management with GDocs is working fine. It's accessible and most people know how to use it. We don't necessarily need a replacement here at the moment, I agree.

However, I believe it is important to be on the lookout for better options. Just because we've always been doing it this way doesn't mean that it's the best way to do it.

In regards of data protection the google solution fails horibbly imho. We still have access to all the personal details from last year.Maybe we could protect them this year with a password?
my original intent was to check whether cryptpad satisfies some of the open points. -> Task Manager & Knowledge (Documentation). sorry if I missed how this is solved already.
I'm setting up these services (just like the password manager) for my own reasons and I'm just offering to host Kiez Burn services. So
I think you're absolutely right in that we discuss "what we want to achieve in this tool consolidation process; what are our hard limits for security and data protection, [...]" here.
What are the services we want to offer or we need in addition to the ones we have? (Btw. is there a list of what we maintain already?) And what are the essential requirements for those?

If you jump into the services consolidation thread you鈥檒l see that an effort is already in consideration. We don鈥檛 have a unified view on how to do this yet and I鈥檓 looking for savvy people to help refine the strategy so we have something workable, and balances time and costs.
It鈥檚 been my irritation point for a number of years now.

yeah, I've seen it now. Is there already a robot meeting planned? I think getting to know each other, consolidating what we've got and laying out tasks and responsabilities in person would be great :)
