Tech material insurance

As in the last year, production, artists and camps are supported by a tech material insurance.. But it has some restrictions:
* We can only cover items and materials with our material insurance for things that are mandatory for the vent. This would be for example: sound systems, expensive tools, DJ equipment, stages, constructions etcetc
* We do NOT cover any kind of private items such as phones, ipads, tablets, private cameras etcetc. We'll remove items which appear to be too personal. Musical instruments are also not covered, be as careful with them as you would be everywhere else.
* The insurance is mostly to cover damage of things. It has a decuctible/excess of €200, so entering devices with a lower value it is probably pointless.
* While the insurance would cover theft, it won't pay for tech being stolen which is laying around, we/you might have to prove that it was stolen from a locked room. And even then the insurance is paying only for 75% of the value.
* DEADLINE 30th May 2019 (it is unclear if the coverage can be extended if you make up your mind too late and come late with something very expensive
* If you have any questions please reach out to Owl (owl@berlinburner.de)

I want some clarification regarding numbers:
Is it 5 people per kiez present at any one time, or overall?

Problem if it's the second one is that we want different people to do build than do strike, so we don't drain the life energy of a few.

Breaking news: you can be more than five people for build & strike, but still need to fill in the names until Thursday 13th 12:00 noon. https://talk.kiezburn.org/d/G4k1xcwI/mandatory-insurance-early-arrivals-late-stayers-optional-material-insurance/19

at some point we'll need a better solution than google forms and google spreadsheets... Maybe Gdproogle should be founded...

walto Sun 2 Jun 2019 2:11PM

We think we have about 20 walkie-talkies

W

walto Mon 3 Jun 2019 8:34AM

Euh, not sure... Welfare, site leads, security, gate, Feuerwehr, first aid also need Walkies. Im not that into that stuff, maybe ask cris coz she did it last year? We'll need to distribute them well. Rangers usually coordinate that. Don't think Rangers need 5 Walkies on duty, 1 per 2 people suffices, so not sure why you'd need 5 per shift

C

Cris Tue 4 Jun 2019 7:51AM

Rangers will need 5-6 walkies in total: 3 in use (1 for the lead + 1 for each of the 2 couples) and 2 or 3 charging.
It looks like there'll be enough for all the teams :)
As for what we did last year, I actually don't have a clearer perspective, because Rangers didn't take care of the walkie talkies, The Mothership did and we were just taking them from First Aid.

But coming back to insurance: @waldo would you please write them down in the insurance list? Or send us the exact model and number and we'll do it. (They don't seem to be in last year's list)

Hei Owl - are the people who have already signed up covered or do I need to re-fill the form?

W

walto Sun 9 Jun 2019 12:18PM

just counted - we count 18 radios that we will take to site. We are considering maybe buying a couple extra, like we did every year. @cristinaolano and @jessywheaton

I cant find the walkies in there. We do need an update on the exact number from @waldo or someone at COMMs on exactly how many walkies we will be responsible for this year. waldo and i talked about 9 talkies (for rangers+site lead+charging) at the third leads meeting.

some of our lists contain data some people would like to keep private, given that the places where the links are posted are public, too. It would probably better to reduce the number of private data in the public lists, keep personal it in a hidden list and hand it out on a need-to-know basis.

Jessy W Sun 19 May 2019 7:52PM

@cristinaolano we should put walkie talkies in here but i dont know all the info. @waldo do you know the count/value for those?

JW

Jessy W Mon 3 Jun 2019 12:51AM

Ok thanks thats a lot! How many are you expecting Ranger HQ will be responsible for? Rangers need at max capacity: 3! walkies on duty, 3! charging (with 3! chargers) for next shift, a spare. +1 for Site lead. So 7-8! it seems would cover Rangers and site leads at night. During daytime some of them are not in use.

Are we supposed to insure them in liability? if so, what value?
Right now I'm trying to design a lockbox with holes for cords to keep them safe inside the ranger hq.

W

walto Tue 4 Jun 2019 11:53AM

I guess that would make sense, but that was just a suggestion. @cjyetman is the site lead lead, so he'll be making that call. will send him the link to your comment

The overall number of 250 "employees" we've negotiated with the insurance company includes setup and strike. I'm currently waiting for an answer to the insurance broker if that number could be extended.

C

Cris Mon 20 May 2019 12:10PM

Maybe it's in last year's list. This is the threat, but I don't have permission to see the doc.

CY

CJ Yetman Tue 4 Jun 2019 12:52PM

@jessywheaton yes... I would appreciate (and already assumed) if the Rangers would let the Site Leads share their space, for storing some basic stuff, recharging radios, etc. And yes, we will need a key to the radio storage.

O

Owl Mon 3 Jun 2019 6:55PM

All good, both lists will be merged (just finetuned the statement). Just if you have to change somethings, forward it to me, and it will be changed.

Jessy W Tue 4 Jun 2019 11:20AM

Thanks @cristinaolano, youre right about the pairs, my mistake, momentarily forgot we do one walkie per pair. i keep counting heads, not pairs. So at night we have 3 walkies in use, 3 walkies charging, and it would be nice to have a spare thought not necessary. so 6-7 for the Rangers.

Do you still want us to hold onto the site lead's walkie and be a charging station for them like we discussed @waldo ? in that case we'll need to give the site lead a key to the walkie storage.
